What are the different accounts (Private, breeder, pet shop, rescue centre)?
- Private sellers can list upto 3 different animals a year with Petwise, after which they will need to upgrade to a breeders account. Any pet shop will be required to select a pet shop/commercial account and registered charities/rescue centres can select the rescue centre account which will be validated upon provision of a valid charity number and contact details.
- Pet sellers are required to have a breeders license if they sell 3 or more animals/liters of animals in a year and if they stand to make a profit (£1000) which would render them as a small business with the HMRC. Any commercial seller of animals who sells from a commercial premises or operates a premises as such, will be required to have a pet shop license. These licenses are obtainable by contacting your nearest local authorities licensing department, where they will guide you through the application process. If you possess a license, it is required that you list the license number on your adverts. It is your obligation as a seller to ensure you have the correct and up to date license and Petwise accept no responsibility for your failure to do so.
Registered charities and rescue centres may qualify for an amount of free advertising and account upgrades. Please email support@petwise.co.uk to check if your organisation is eligible.
